I am enclosing few pictures of wadi which came on 7.2.2010 in Nizwa.Our house is next to the vacant area (Like river beds) called wadi. It usually remain dry and it is not possible for an exptriate to imagine that with in hours of rains it can suddenly become a fast flowing river. Water comes from mountains all around as there is no vegetation and no soil on mountains. Not a drop is absorbed by the rocks and it simply rushes down. It is like flash floods but fortunately these people have not violated these dry planes. So the water flows down like a river. It may last for few hours to days depending on the precipitation. It is so violent that always few cars are washed off and few people go missing, usually the people who do not believe locals that such a thing is possible. We experienced it ourselves.
The real fun is in watching the videos where one can see the flow, but files are big and exceeding the limits.
