A perennial player in the media spotlight on biomedical publishing is the elusive “conflict of interest,” periodically invoked as the culprit for distorted or inappropriate research conclusions. One solution to the problem—full disclosure—has its merits but, as discovered by the unfortunate author below, is not a panacea.
